Overview of Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit

Indonesia’s first modern metro system, launched in 2019 to ease traffic congestion in the capital

  • The Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) is an air management system used in the MRT Jakarta railway tunnels. The TVS is divided into two subsystems: the Trackway Exhaust Fan (TEF) and the Trackway Ventilation Fan (TVF).
  • The Trackway Exhaust Fan (TEF) functions to remove hot air generated by train operations. It also serves as a smoke extraction system in the event of a fire on the platform side. Meanwhile, the Trackway Ventilation Fan (TVF) operates bidirectionally, meaning it can either extract air from or supply air into the railway tunnel, depending on operational requirements and emergency conditions.

Participant will fly from Bali to Jakarta

Visit MRT Jakarta Headquarter and Operation Control Center at Lebak Bulus Depot in the afternoon. The visit will include the train inspection area, maintenance workshops, lifting equipment, and the technology used to keep MRT safe and reliable.

In the evening, participants may optionally join a visit to the MRT Phase 1 tunnel. The visit will offer a closer look at the engineering systems, operational controls, and safety measures that support underground train network.
